To support Nova Scotia’s forthcoming Active Transportation (AT) Policy Framework and the Blue Route province-wide cycling network we invite you to attend two stakeholder consultations. The Nova Scotia Government and Bicycle Nova Scotia (BNS) are hosting 7 joint stakeholder engagement sessions across the province with the support of Cities & Environment Unit.
The full-day workshop will have two parts; the morning will focus on the Blue Route and the afternoon will focus on the NS AT Policy Framework. Due to the crossover of participants for these sessions the timing and location of these engagements has been coordinated.
See the descriptions below for more details.
MORNING 9:30-12:30 = Blue Route Stakeholder Engagement:
The Blue Route is envisioned to become Nova Scotia’s province-wide cycling network, connecting communities in all 18 counties, and linking into local AT networks. The Blue Route will give thousands more Nova Scotian’s the opportunity to cycle regularly, while making Nova Scotia a destination for bicycle tourism. BNS has promoted this vision for the past 8 years and is now collaborating with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal and other departments to prepare preliminary implementation plans. BNS is excited to invite you to our Blue Route stakeholder engagement sessions to share draft network plans, and determine the future of the Blue Route.
AFTERNOON 1:15-4:30 = AT Policy Framework Stakeholder Engagement:
The Provincial AT Policy Framework will help shape the Province’s strategic directions for AT in Nova Scotia. This half-day afternoon engagement session will bring together representatives from inside and outside of government to gather input and gain support for the draft elements of the framework. Community Planners from the Cities & Environment Unit will lead this interactive session, which will offer a variety of opportunities for stakeholders to provide input on the strategic direction of the document. We will provide an agenda and draft of the AT Policy Framework prior to the regional stakeholder sessions to ensure participants are well informed prior to the event.
