Cheer up, “Spring’s Freakin’ Coming”

Dacane Movie NightSick of old man winter?

Dacane Surf Shop is hosting a movie night dubbed "Spring's Freakin' Coming" on Friday, February 27 at the Coconut Grove Nightclub in Downtown Halifax (corner of Blowers and Grafton).

Tickets for the event are $5 per person; doors open at 7:30 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to the Surfriders Association of Nova Scotia (SANS) to help fund the development of surfing in the province.

"The purpose of this event is to bring people out of their caves, watch a few new DVDs and support the Nova Scotia Surfriders Association," said Dacane owner Lance Moore. "(There will be) lots of free give-a-ways that we've had for two years or more...stuff we can't sell."

For more information on "Spring's Freakin' Coming", call the Dacane Surf Shop at 431-SURF (7873), or visit the store website.

In particular, Ron needs help with details such as securing a temporary liquor license, getting a beer sponsor, advertising and promotion, and organizing volunteers. The initial legwork for these tasks is already done to some extent, and Ron would be able direct volunteers as to the process.

Last year, Dacane surf shop owner Lance Moore donated gear for the surf lessons, and the movie and auction took place at the new Nova Scotia Community College campus. Ron believes the campus should be available this year as well. [Read more...]
